Reuters US hosted "Experience Day" of the Beautiful China campaign in New York's Times Square. This is the first stop on China's global campaign to adopt 3D virtual reality technology to promote tourism overseas. A 20-engineer team from China Intercontinental Communications Center developed the technology, balancing the content between information and entertainment.

Taking this opportunity at the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, the China Energy Fund Committee organized “Sino-US Colloquium (VIII): Beyond the Current Distrust”, to explore and discuss the experiences of China and the US regarding the post-War management of international affairs and global peace, and to analyze new trends and challenges for the management of global affairs in the future.

Beginning in fall 2014, qualified students from China, the U.S., and any other countries were able to pursue a master’s degree in ECE from Georgia Tech in Shenzhen, China. Georgia Tech Shenzhen is located inside the Shenzhen High-Tech Industry Park with easy access to hundreds of companies. Assistance is available for students to pursue co-op or internship opportunities with multinational companies in China, following a semester of study at Georgia Tech Shenzhen.

Martin Lipton, Chair of NYU’s Board of Trustees; John Sexton, President of NYU; and Yu Lizhong, President of East China Normal University -- on behalf of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and Pudong Special District and ECNU -- announced that they have reached an agreement to create NYU Shanghai, a comprehensive research university with a liberal arts and science college in China’s financial capital, the first American university with independent legal status approved by the Ministry of Education.

Keys of Inspiration is a public school partnership program for grades two to five initiated by the Lang Lang International Music Foundation (LLIMF), headed by internationally renowned Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang himself. The program encourages piano performance as a means of social development for youth by providing students with a safe, creative outlet in school.

John Salminen, a native Minnesota watercolorist, paints Chinese cityscapes which astound Chinese audiences, gaining popularity through Chinese social media platforms. Salminen started painting watercolors in the 1970s after taking a course with Chinese-American painter Cheng-Khee Chee, and first traveled to Shanghai in 2010 to receive an award at the Shanghai Zhujiajiao Watercolor Biennial Exhibition. Awestruck by the Chinese cityscape, Salminen has since journeyed back to China many times for international exhibitions.

For five days in October, former US diplomat Thomas Miller and his wife Bonnie Miller volunteered to teach students at the Beijing Foreign Studies University about conflict resolution. Through this program, U.S. technical experts volunteer their time to advise Chinese businesses and organizations on global best practices and standards in fields such as bio-pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and green energy.

For the 16th Chinese Culture Festival this year, called "Splendid Sichuan," the China Overseas Exchanges Association offered performances and presentations geared towards exposing Americans to the cultures of different Chinese provinces and autonomous regions.

This year's TCS New York City Marathon welcomed over 200 Chinese runners who flew across the Pacific to leave their footprints on the five boroughs of New York City. Representing a booming interest in marathon-running in China, travel agencies such as Runnar and Palace Travel offer package deals to customers that include registration for races as well as accommodations.
