Chinese go the distance for marathon

This year's TCS New York City Marathon welcomed over 200 Chinese runners who flew across the Pacific to leave their footprints on the five boroughs of New York City. Representing a booming interest in marathon-running in China, travel agencies such as Runnar and Palace Travel offer package deals to customers that include registration for races as well as accommodations.
Outcomes:
Runners cite China's improving economy as the impetus to look deeper into their health practices and take up running for exercise. Most of the runners, especially ones participating in international races, are business people. In response, the number of marathon races and running organizations in China are rapidly expanding. However, Chinese runners also add that the novelty of running international marathons comes from experiencing a new and different culture.
