Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson will visit China for the 3rd time since 2015 in a bid to increase foreign investment to the state. The state is home to a profitable rice and beef production and Governor Hutchinson hopes to ship these products to China starting in the spring of 2018.

The three-month long Creative China Festival, supported by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and The Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation, has concluded in the city of New York. Tesla Inc has announced that it has begun negotiations to set up a wholly owned manufacturing facility in Shanghai's free trade zone. The US firm is exploring the possibility of establishing a manufacturing facility in Shanghai to better serve the Chinese market.

UGG, an American based footwear company, recently announced the expansion of its concept stores in China from one in 2017 to 45 in the next three years. This announcement comes after UGG signed Angelababy Yang, a popular Chinese celebrity/actress, as a brand ambassador.

20 students from the University of Illinois system will be selected in the spring for a summer trip to China. The trip is sponsored by the Wanxiang Fellows Program and will focus on the development of green technologies in China. Wanxiang began creating programs under the 100,000 Strong Initiative, announced by former President Barack Obama and former President Hu Jintao in 2009. The initiative aims to send 100,000 American students to study in China in an effort to build relationships between the citizens of the two superpowers.
