The UM-SJTU Joint Institute (JI) is an equal-partner institution cooperatively sponsored by the University of Michigan (UM) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). As a specially designated reform zone in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, JI has been given a high degree of autonomy to model itself after the University of Michigan. The unique and strategic characteristic of the JI is its global approach to structural and operational development. Over the past five years, the JI has developed an effective model for training globally astute, creative talents.

Working with students from the Beijing Institute of Fashion and Technology, students will design and implement a project using Louisiana produced alligator skins. Anticipated field trips include: the Forbidden City, the Heavenly Temple, the Summer Palace, the Great Wall, and the Pearl Tower. While in China, the two main projects for the course will be (1) to design and implement a design project in conjunction with students from the Beijing Institute for Fashion and Technology using Louisiana produced alligator skins and (2) individual trip journals.

Brockport's summer program in Beijing is a unique program with a lot of flexibility for students. Students that choose to be will be immersed in Chinese language. Aside from the academic flexibility, students will have the opportunity to take part in social activities and travel to many regions of China.

Brockport's semester program in Beijing is a unique program with a lot of flexibility for students. Students that choose to be will be immersed in Chinese language throughout their study. There are also opportunities to take courses taught in English in the fields of economics, business, politics, foreign policy, philosophy, history, art and literature, women's studies and more. Aside from the academic component of the program, students will have the opportunity to take part in social activities and travel to many regions of China.

The Intensive Chinese Language and Culture Program, which offers students an in-depth exploration of China through academically challenging curriculum and experiential learning. Students will have the opportunity to begin learning Mandarin Chinese, or to advance their existing Mandarin language skills.

The metropolis, located in northern China, is governed as a direct-controlled municipality under the national government, with 14 urban and suburban districts and two rural counties. Beijing Municipality is surrounded by Hebei Province with the exception of neighboring Tianjin Municipality to the southeast.

Capital Normal University (CNU) is located in the western part of Beijing. The campus contains all of the components of a small village: housing, shops, restaurants, a post office, and a health center. It is also conveniently located near points of interest such as the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and other famous sites. This program provides students with the opportunity to live and study at a major Chinese university. Course in Chinese language, literature, culture, history and art are offered.

Located in Hangzhou, a historical city blessed with rich resources, talented people and prosperity, the Zhejiang Sci-Tech University is a provincial key industrial university with distinct characteristics. It has disciplines in science, industry, literature, economy, management, law and education. The university consists of four campuses and covers an area of 140 hectares. It has 17 affiliated colleges, 1 independent college and 49 programs for bachelor degree of which 11 are provincial key programs and 4 are the characteristic program of the Ministry of Education.
