WNBA players Tamika Raymond and Kiesha Brown traveled to Shenyang, China, as Sports Envoys of the U.S. Department of State and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). This is part of the Empowering Women and Girls through Sports Initiative which seeks to use basketball as a tool for bringing people together and fostering understanding.

United Planet volunteers live and work in Changsha, the capital and largest city in the Hunan province, with a population of more than 7 million. Those in the program help teach English to local Chinese students at an elementary school or middle school in Changsha.

Arizona State University and China’s Shandong University announced a joint venture on October 28, 2014 to focus on “bio-inspired” cancer and vaccine research, water and air purification systems and advanced explorations of nanotechnology.
ASU President Michael Crow announced the collaboration on a Biodesign Center to be based in the Chinese port city of Qingdao. It is part of ASU’s continued effort to deepen and expand research and related initiatives across China.

The Sandusky area hosted a special group of tourists this month, offering small-scale samplings of U.S. culture to a group of visiting Chinese students. Nine teenaged students from China's Bright Foreign Language School explored the region July 6 to 15, 2014 as part of a lengthy trip across the nation. They included the Sandusky area as a destination because of a partnership between Perkins High School and its former Chinese language teacher, Tang Xiaosu, who returned to China in 2012. The school is one of a handful across Ohio offering Mandarin Chinese as a foreign language course.

The Outstanding Chinese Law Students’ Visiting Program strives to provide the opportunity for exceptional Chinese law students to gain first-hand experience at American law schools. Activities of the Chinese law students include: visiting admission offices, observing classes, attending lectures, and meeting and socializing with U.S. law professors and law students.

Ten Chinese junior high exchange students arrived at Woodmore Middle School for a three-week stay.
Each Chinese student was paired with a Woodmore student mentor. The Chinese students followed their mentors' schedules and attended their classes.

Lock Haven University (LHU) offers two program in China at the Changsha University of Science and Technology: "Chinese Language and Business" and "Chinese Language and Internship." Studying business in China creates an immediate advantage for future employment prospects and expands one's vocational horizons within and outside China. The "Chinese Language and Internship" program combines Chinese language studies and practical work experience in a Hunan Company.

Clemson and Tongji universities will exchange civil engineering doctoral students as part of a global partnership that underscores the importance of cooperation in solving some of the world’s toughest engineering challenges. Students who participate will be eligible for dual degrees from both universities. The agreement marks the first dual Ph.D. program in civil engineering that Tongji has signed with a U.S. university.

Heritage Hall hosted about 15 students from Chongqing 29th Secondary School in Chongqing, a city of about 28 million in southwest China. The students took part in Heritage Hall classes and saw the sights of Oklahoma City, including what was a much anticipated trip to the city’s outlet mall.
Heritage Hall is home to a Confucius Classroom taught by Jessie Maeer. Confucius Classrooms are local institutions, based in U.S. schools, which stimulate and support innovative teaching and learning of Chinese language and culture.

USC’s School of Cinematic Arts selects 8 USC students to work with 8 Chinese students flying in from the Communication University of China in Beijing. Each USC student will be paired with a student from CUC, and each pair will work together to make a 10 to 15 minute documentary on Los Angeles as a global city.
