Under an agreement announced on June 26 by the US Treasury, US financial accounts will report their taxes directly to the Chinese government, which will then file them to the IRS. In the past, the accounts were only required to be reported to the foreign country's government. The two countries agreed on the terms, but are reviewing before officially signing it. The new agreement will remove the threat of blacklisting or penalties that have been hanging over Chinese financial institutions, including institutions in Hong Kong, the US and other subsidiaries in the Chinese mainland.

Government officials and business leaders on both sides of the world joined together via technology to celebrate the opening of the state’s newest international trade office. One of the key growth areas between Nebraska and China is value-added agriculture exports.

The USDA will lead a mission to promote U.S. agricultural exports in northeast China. The mission is part of President Obama’s Made in Rural America export and investment initiative, designed to help rural businesses and leaders take advantage of new investment opportunities and access new customers and markets abroad. Participating companies represent a wide range of products, from fruits and vegetables, to livestock feed and seafood, to agricultural machinery and more. The delegation also includes representatives from the U.S.

Since the new owner of the Sheraton Gateway, a subsidiary of Shenzen Hazens Real Estate Group, put up billboards in China touting the 802-room hotel near the main entrance of the Los Angeles International Airport, there has been a 15% increase in Chinese travelers staying at the hotel. This is just one example of a surge in Chinese tourism and investment in Southern California. Tourism from China into Los Angeles nearly quadrupled last year to 570,000 visitors, up from 158,000 in 2009.

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with former US treasury secretary Henry Paulson in Beijing on July 2, 2014. He urged that the United States should objectively view China's national conditions and policies. Xi also encouraged both sides to "make full use" of bilateral mechanisms such as the Strategic and Economic Dialogue to keep "injecting positive energy" into the key ties and bring tangible achievements.

The Chinese fleet participating in the RIMPAC, talked with US naval officers during their visit to the Chinese fleet in Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii. US Vice-Admiral Kenneth Floyd, commander of the US Third Fleet who also serves as this year's RIMPAC Combined Task Force Commander, met with Zhang Ronghua, captain of China's hospital ship Peace Ark in Pearl Harbor. The Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) multinational naval exercise, which started in 1971, is the world's largest multinational maritime military exercise.

Seven American journalists visited Ningbo, Beijing and Hong Kong in China and seven Chinese visited San Francisco, New York City and Washington, DC in the United States.

The film has done bigger box office in China — the world’s second-largest film market — than in North America, due to major advances in China-Hollywood marketing cooperation, says China Movie Media Group (CMMG).
