WFMT Radio Network in Chicago launched "New York Sounds" on Shanghai Classical 94.7 FM on Thursday. The weekly program features New York's greatest cultural exports via live radio broadcasts from Carnegie Hall, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the New York Philharmonic. The broadcasts marked the first collaboration between Shanghai Classical 94.7 FM, the only full-time classical music radio station in China, and the Chicago-based WFMT Radio Network, one of the largest producers and distributors of classical, jazz, folk and spoken-word programming in the world.

Formed in late 1998, the US-China Legal Cooperation Fund sought to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of law, in line with commitments announced by Presidents Bill Clinton and Jiang Zemin the year before. Fifteen years later, the Fund is ended after awarding a total of $1.7 million for 125 projects.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra toured Asia for the eighth time in January 2016. The tour included performances in Taipei, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, and Seoul. Residing conductor was Riccardo Muti.
From baroque through contemporary music, the CSO commands a vast repertoire. Its renowned musicians annually perform more than 150 concerts, most at Symphony Center in Chicago and, each summer, at the suburban Ravinia Festival. They regularly tour nationally and internationally. Since 1892, the CSO has made 58 international tours, performing in 29 countries on five continents.
