China-based and NASDAQ-listed biotech company Cellular Biomedicine Group rang the closing bell at the midtown stock exchange, having just gone public at the market two months earlier. William Cao, the CEO of Cellular Biomedicine Group, told China Daily that US and Chinese biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies can work together to capitalize on the growing reliance on immune cell therapy. Cellular Biomedicine Group (CBMG) is a biotechnology company that focuses on cell-based products for disease treatment in China and is working on expanding into the US.

The China-US Strategic Economic Dialogue sets a salutary example for how the world's major economies can deepen mutual understanding and better interaction through high-profile talks and negotiations. Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi and visiting US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson jointly announced the dialogue's establishment in Beijing. Both sides agreed to send high-ranking officials to meet twice a year to review their economic relationship.

Chinese authorities, with the help of the US Drug enforcement Administration (DEA) have confiscated 70 kg of cocaine originating from South America, the Ministry of Public Security said Thursday. In August, the DEA tipped off Chinese authorities a container departing from Peru and stopping through Mexico was highly suspected of containing drugs. By analyzing phone messages and emails of a Mexican drug cartel member who had been murdered, the DEA said the container would arrive in Shanghai on Aug. 18, from where it would be put on board a ship destined for New Zealand.

The Shanghai Clearing House signed a memorandum of understanding with Chicago-based CME Group Inc, one of the world's largest derivatives marketplaces, to develop products and services for global users as China accelerates its market liberalization and yuan internationalization. The two organizations announced they will also cooperate in the areas of risk management and market research.

Peking Opera, known as jingju in Chinese, is the country's national form of theater, combining unique storytelling, acrobatics, acting and martial arts with Chinese singing and dance.
