Tasly Holding Group, a leading pharmaceutical company in China, officially launched its North American operations in the state of Maryland Wednesday as part of its "go-out" efforts to further expand its business of traditional Chinese medicine overseas. The company, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in May, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its office in Rockville, Maryland, to mark the official launch of Tasly Pharmaceuticals as its North American headquarters, with about 150 guests from the Maryland state government and biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in attendance.

More than 1,000 people from film companies, independent production firms, and investment groups from the US and China attended the first US China Film and TV Industry EXPO (UCFTI) at the Los Angeles Convention Center which ends on Tuesday. Founded by president and CEO Bianca Chen, UCFTI featured panel discussions involving important topics in the film and television industries. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti welcomed all the Chinese companies to the EXPO and future investment from China.

Chinese poet and painter Yan Zhen was celebrated in New York on Monday at the United Nations headquarters as the artist's works will be on display for the next two weeks as the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly convenes. Yan's exhibit, The China Story, features paintings spanning the artist's career, and is sponsored by the Global Sustainable Development Foundation, an organization where Yan's daughter, Sheri Yan, serves as CEO.

The ACC Intensive Language & Culture Program in Beijing is a Chinese language program administered by Hamilton College and hosted by Minzu University of China (MUC) in Beijing. The program offers students the opportunity to improve their Chinese language skills and cultural fluency during fall, spring, or summer terms. In China, students also have the option to join the ACC Student Council, addressing student concerns and arranging student activities such as Halloween pumpkin carving and costume contests as well as faculty-student sporting events.

Hamilton College offers the ACC Field Studies Program for advanced students of Chinese combines field experiences in rural China with advanced language courses for a 7-week total immersion. Students will go on a three-week field study in different parts of China where they will engage in a comparative study of U.S. and China's contemporary society and educational systems through hands-on projects. This is followed by a three-week intensive Chinese language courses & culture lectures about China in Beijing.

The K-12 Chinese Language Teachers Institute is an intensive summer training program for Chinese language teachers whose first language is not Chinese. This 6-week institute will be held in Beijing, China with scholarships provided by the Fulbright Hays GPA Program. This training program offers refresher language courses, cultural lectures and pedagogical workshops among other features.

Situated on several royal gardens of the Qing Dynasty, surrounded by a few historical sites in northwest Beijing, is the campus of Tsinghua University. The garden-like landscape, with the Wanquan River meandering through, has inspired and motivated generations of students.
