The University of California, San Diego's Fudan-UC Center hosted the conference "Religion in China Today: Resurgence and Challenge".
Over the past three decades, there has been a remarkable resurgence of religious belief and practice in China. This has taken many forms, from the revival and transformation of folk religion, the reinvigoration of Christianity, Buddhism and Islam, and even the creation of new religious movements. These developments present new challenges to the Chinese state and have led to global controversies over the government’s handling of these challenges.

This academic conference brought together leading researchers on China’s political economy. It provided a forum for the presentation and discussion of cutting-edge theoretical and empirical research on important topics about China such as governance, accountability, corruption, reform politics, media and the rise of middle class.

The common interests of China and the United States far outweigh their differences, Premier Wen Jiabao said on September 23, 2010 during his meeting with US President Barack Obama.
The two-hour meeting between Wen and Obama on the sidelines of the general debate of 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly focused on regional and world issues, with a call for more cooperation.
The Chinese premier said his nation and the US can bolster joint efforts on significant international and regional affairs, as well as on global financial woes and climate change.

A State-owned Chinese fertilizer company has signed a 10-year potash supply agreement with Prospect Global Resources Inc, a Denver-based company, guaranteeing China a steady flow of the crucial fertilizer. The deal with Sichuan Chemical Industry Holding Co, worth more than $2 billion, is part of a Chinese trend to partner with small mining companies hungry for capital to develop their land. Potash is one of the most-important fertilizers for farmers to apply, after nitrogen and phosphate.

Delegates from Alabama have visited Shanghai to talk about investment opportunities in the United States, with emphasis on the advantages of investing in the state. The event, organized by the China-based Yingke Law Firm and the Alabama China Partnership, introduced the business environment in the US southeastern state. The problems faced by Chinese firms in the United States, and possible solutions, were also discussed. Chinese companies have met many obstacles in the US recently.
