The U.S.- China Forum 2015, co-organized by the China-United States Exchange Foundation, the University of Chicago Office of Global Engagement, the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC) and the Paulson Institute was held on 19 May, 2015 at the University of Chicago. This year’s program was focused on the climate change challenge and on the U.S.-China relations.

Center for American Progress (CAP) Founder, John Podesta, led a group of experts to visit Beijing from March 29th until April 2nd. Mr. Podesta engaged in high-level dialogues with Executive Vice Premiere Zhang Gaoli and State Councilor Yang Jiechi, discussing China-U.S. collaboration in climate change and the “new model of major power relations.” Mr. C. The China-United States Exchange Foundation, together with Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, hosted the US State and Local Official Delegation 2014. The delegation visited Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai on 7-16 December 2014.
May 17, 2015
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who will be making an official visit to the United States in the fall of 2015, and sought to highlight U.S.-China cooperation. Kerry urged China to speed up talks with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on guidelines for handling maritime activity in disputed areas.

In December 2013, the China-United States Exchange Foundation supported the first group of U.S. Secretaries of State to visit China to deepen the delegation’s understanding of China. The program was organized in cooperation with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS). The delegation visited Beijing, Chengdu, and Shanghai.

On March 26th – 29th, a Chicago Harris China Study Group visited Shanghai, which was organized by the China-United States Exchange Foundation and Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).

On March 22nd – 25th, a Chicago Harris China Study Group visited Beijing. The China-United States Exchange Foundation and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) organized the trip.
August 3, 2014
The China-United States Exchange Foundation, together with Beijing Language and Culture University and Hangzhou Wanxiang Polytechnic, successfully hosted two U.S. student groups between August 3rd and August 16th. The two student delegations were from Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s district in Houston, Texas, and from Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge’s district in Cleveland, Ohio.

On July 29, the John L. Thornton China Center hosted a panel discussion with a delegation from the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS).
April 28, 2014
AFPC hosted a small dinner for China’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Liu Jieyi, in New York C City. Amb. Liu, in his previous position as Deputy Foreign Minister, held meetings with numerous AFPC delegations in Beijing. Following opening remarks by John Train, President of the Train Foundation, and AFPC President Herman Pirchner, Jr., Amb. Liu outlined China’s positions on a range of major bilateral issues affecting the Sino-American relationship.
