Among the goals of this mission, which begins with a private jet flight for the governor, is to encourage Asian builders to bid for work on California's high-speed rail line.

A week-long gala in Los Angeles presents musical performances, photo and book exhibitions, a poetry recital and an intangible cultural heritage demonstration to American audience. Crossing the Pacific Ocean: The 2014 China Jilin Culture Week, jointly held by the Jilin provincial government and Los Angeles County, California, was opened on Sunday. It included a symphony concert in the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse in San Gabriel, California, entitled Along the River During the Qingming Festival.

A Broadway-themed musical based on a legendary Chinese kung fu master, will be performed for free in Mandarin and English in Houston at the Miller Outdoor Theatre. The musical Kung Fu Hero will feature local talent and include colorful costumes, spectacular martial arts scenes and stunning choreography, according to Burton Wolfe, president and artistic director of Worldwide Stage, Inc., a non-profit entertainment organization based in Richmond, Texas. The musical is based on legendary kungfu hero Fong Sai Yuk from Guangdong who was portrayed by actor Jet Li in a 1993 Hong Kong film.
