On October 3-6, 2007, Oklahoma University hosted 14 mid-career diplomats from the US State Department and the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the inaugural US-China Diplomatic Dialogue.

Figure skating champion Michelle Kwan was appointed as the first American Public Diplomacy Envoy, a role in which she promotes the positive aspects of American culture and democratic principles. For her first trip in her new capacity, Kwan accompanied Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Karen Hughes to China. During their trip, January 17-27, 2007, they visited the cities of Beijing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

The Institute of East Asian Studies at UC Berkeley coordinated a campus wide event celebrating academic and cultural exchange with Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

Students and faculty at UC Berkeley will be able to collaborate and exchange academic materials with their counterparts at Tsinghua University in Beijing, thanks to a historic agreement signed by Chancellor Robert Birgneau on his recently concluded trip to Asia.
The Berkeley-Tsinghua partnership is the culmination of long-standing ties between the two universities.

After a yearlong hiatus, Forum for American/Chinese Exchange at Stanford (FACES) resumed its two-session Annual Conference at Stanford in November 2013 and in Peking University in April 2014. The 43 delegates who attended the conferences were from American and Chinese universities.
The first event at Stanford University featured a host of distinguished speakers who addressed the delegates on issues including human rights and U.S.-China economic cooperation.
The China Session of the 2013-2014 Annual Conference was held at Peking and Renmin universities on April 13-19, 2014.

On September 11th, Consul General Yuan Nansheng attended "2014 CEA China-California Economic Forum and CGCC IT Committee Annual Conference" in San Francisco.
Mayor Ed Lee of San Francisco attended the conference and delivered a speech. More than 200 representatives from State of California, City of San Francisco, and Chinese American Association of Commerce etc. joined the event.

In Beijing May 3-4, Secretary Clinton and Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner joined their Chinese co-chairs, Vice Premier Wang Qishan and State Councilor Dai Bingguo, for the fourth joint meeting of the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED).

Former Shanghai Mayor Xu Kuangdi was the commentator and Zhou Mingwei, Director, China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration and Honorary President, Shanghai Association of American Studies, served as moderator.
