US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping, at odds over China's increasing assertiveness in Asia and issues such as cyberspying, plan a followup to their informal summit in California last year after November's APEC summit in Beijing. Leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation group will meet in Beijing on Nov 10 and 11. Obama plans to stay in China for a bilateral meeting with Xi on Nov 12 before heading on for an East Asia summit in Myanmar and a G20 meeting in Australia.

Chinese investors continue to look favorably on California real estate as Chinese developer Full Power Properties purchased a downtown San Jose property from KT Properties, a Silicon Valley-based real estate firm. The transaction was regarded as one of the most substantial downtown San Jose deals in a long time, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal. KT Properties sold its two-acre site at 190 W St and James St, which is now a surface parking lot, but approved for 643 residential units in two towers, to the Chinese developer.

Break the Barriers, Inc., the nation's premier sports-arts center uniting people of all abilities, and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Role Model for Inclusion, announced that it will be hosting a delegation of dignitaries from China from Aug. 16 through Aug. 20, 2008. The visit stems from Break the Barriers' participation in China's first National Day for the Disabled on May 20, 2007 in Xiamen.

The US-China Business & Culture Association brought 20 business leaders from the Shanghai region to the City of Fresno to meet with City officials to learn about the many food and water related business and investment opportunities that the Fresno region has to offer. The delegation and special guests, along with domestic and international media, began their visit with a tour of the Water, Energy & Technology Center, followed by a presentation from City officials at City Hall.

"If You Are the One", the wildly popular Chinese TV dating show, is coming to Houston, announced Wea Lee, CEO of Southern News Group (SNG). SNG is a partner of China Jiangsu TV (JSTV), creator of the show. "We want to use this opportunity to provide a service to young people in the region and promote exchanges between the US and China," said Lee. Jianghuai Automobile Co (JAC), one of China's 10 largest automakers, will deliver 100 electric vehicles to an electric carmaker in the US. The vehicles, part of 2,000 units purchased by the US-based GreenTech Automotive (GTA), will be delivered from Hefei, Anhui province, where JAC is located, while the other 1,900 will be shipped from there in the near future.
