Asia Society and US-China Strong Partner to Dramatically Increase US Mandarin Language Learning

The Asia Society and the US-China Strong Foundation announced a joint partnership to realize President Obama and President Xi's call for 1 million American students to be learning Mandarin by 2020. The two organizations made the announcement during the 7th Annual US-China Consultation on People-to-People Exchange chaired by Secretary of State John Kerry and Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong.
Outcomes: 
The campaign to have 1 million American students learn Mandarin by 2020 is important in ensuring that Americans have a greater understanding of China, and furthermore create an informed citizenry that has the skills and opportunities to compete in today's workforce.
