The Secretary of State’s Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs Reta Jo Lewis will travel to Beijing and Tianjin, China, to attend the U.S.-China Governors Forum April 15-16. In Beijing, April 15, Special Representative Lewis will address the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC). She also will meet with Chinese central and provincial government officials to promote subnational partnerships.
Outcomes: 
The U.S.-China Governors Forum was established by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed during then-Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to Washington, DC in January 2011. Since then, the NGA has partnered with CPAFFC to plan the Forums which serve as platforms to promote peer-to-peer exchanges between U.S. governors and Chinese provincial leaders on topics of mutual interest and explore opportunities to promote practical cooperation and friendship.
