Micro-film festival launches in New York

Shenzhen's International Micro-Film Festival was launched at United Nations headquarters in New York on 14 October 2014's night, kicking off an event that drew more than 1,500 original micro-film submissions from all over the globe. The Chinese term for microfilms - weidianying - makes reference to Weibo, the Twitter-like platform where many of these films make their debut.
