Governor Jerry Brown Meets with Shanghai's Party Secretary and Toasts Shanghai with Yao Ming

Gov. Edmund G ("Jerry") Brown Jr. met with Shanghai's top government official, Party Secretary Han Zheng to discuss ways of expanding partnership between California and Shanghai. The governor and his delegation of California business leaders toasted their final night in Shanghai with former NBA All-Star Yao Ming. His Shanghai visit followed a number of events in Beijing earlier this week, including remarks at Tsinghua University, meetings with China's Premier, Minister of Commerce, Minister of Environmental Protection, and Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, a forum with the American Chamber of Commerce – Beijing, and a reception at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing with the U.S. Ambassador to China. The delegation then headed to Guangzhou, stopping first in the city of Nanjing with another ride on high-speed rail.
