Future of Asia Conference

On September 15-16, the Los Angeles World Affairs Council hosted its inaugural Future of Asia Conference at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, California. The event featured seventy speakers from all academic and professional backgrounds in engaging panel discussions that ranged from the future of China's rise to the emerging middle class in India. The highlight of the conference was a keynote speech by Admiral Harry Harris, Commander of the United States Pacific Command, who talked about the increasing importance of the Indo-Asia Pacific and its relations to U.S. national interests.
Outcomes:
The conference allowed policymakers and academics to learn more about the economic and political rise of the Asia-Pacific region and engage in fruitful discussions on its implications for the U.S. and the world.
