China/US CBM pact signed

China United Coalbed Methane Co. Ltd. (CUCBM) and US-based Far East Energy Corp. last week signed a contract for joint exploration of coalbed methane (CBM) resources in the Enhong and Laochang areas of southwest China's Yunnan Province.The CBM contract covers a 1,072 square km area in Qujing city and is the first of its kind in Yunnan cooperation with foreign partners, Xinhua news agency reported.
Outcomes: 
Far East will bear all exploration risks and drill five exploration wells and eight pilot development wells during the three-year exploration period.
