China, US pledge to combat illegal trade of wildlife

Officials from China and US jointly vowed to combat transnational wildlife trafficking during annual talks held by the two sides in Beijing. Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong, Chinese State Councillor Yang Jiechi, and US Secretary of State John Kerry attended the joint campaign "Combating Wildlife Trafficking: Turning Concern Into Action" at Beijing's Diaoyutai State Guesthouse on Wednesday afternoon. Kerry said the US looked forward to cooperation with China at more multilateral meetings.
Outcomes:
"The United States and China together are building on the network of partners like Kenya, Gabon, and the Philippines, each of which has destroyed its ivory stocks in recent years. And we hope to continue our work with China at the APEC Conferences and at other multilateral meetings over the course of this year and next," John Kerry said. Liu encouraged more people from both countries to jointly make efforts to protect wildlife.
