Thomas, the principal of Saint Andrew's School, visited China along with some teachers and students. They met Chinese parents in cities like Shanghai, Xi'an, and Beijing. The purpose of their visit was to communicate with Chinese parents and to offer practice opportunities for their American students who were learning Chinese.

USS LASSEN, DDG82 and staff visited Shanghai. Captain Simons and other major officials attended a reception held by the Shanghai Base of the PLA Navy and visited some famous Shanghai landmarks.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa made his third trip to China today, leading a delegation of business and tourism leaders to promote travel and asking businesses to open offices in Los Angeles.

D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray paid a week-long trip to China to secure billions of dollars for investment in city development projects, including potential financing of the proposed 37-mile streetcar network and the Shouthwest Waterfront. The trip was one week long. The mayor was accompanied by several big names in the construction of the city.
McDermott and a delegation of city officials visited Beijing, Shahe City, and Guangzhou. McDermott made presentations to at least 200 potential investors about economic development opportunities in the city. Many investors also asked about the federal EB-5 program.

Sam Adams said he will visit China with mayors of five other U.S. cities on the trip hosted by the National League of Cities. The delegation intended to talk with Chinese leaders about green practices and energy efficiency. They will visit Beijing, Shanghai, and Qingdao.
