Xi-Trump Summit 2017

President Xi Jinping visited President Donald Trump at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Trump had intended to press Xi for trade concessions and urge China to take a more active role in restraining North Korea’s nuclear ambitions, but the high-stakes discussions that began Thursday night and continued Friday were overshadowed by Trump’s muscular response to a poison gas attack blamed on Syrian President Bashar Assad.
Outcomes:
Both Chinese and American sources agree that the greatest takeaway from the visit has been creating a cordial relationship and basis for trust between the two leaders. While there were no significant agreements (or disagreements) settled during the meeting, both leaders acknowledged the importance of cooperation between the two countries. The Presidents' wives and other senior officials met and built relationships as well.
