Governor Terry Branstad of Iowa Has A Unique Relationship with Chinese Leader Xi Jinping
Branstad has an extremely close relationship with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, going back to 1985, when Branstad served his first term as governor and Xi Jinping visited as part of a sister-state exchange program. The two renewed their relationship in September 2011, when Branstad visited China, and again in February 2012, when Xi returned to Iowa.
