15 American architects traveled to China

In 1974, leading members of the American Institute of Architects visited China for a three-week tour of the country. They were hosted by the Architectural Society of China.
Outcomes:
Architects learned about China's design principles in its cities and communities, and how they differ from those of the United States. For instance, the Chinese stress self-sufficiency, and so the surrounding countryside of the city is solely dedicated to producing produce and meat, while the city provides the necessary manufactured goods, textiles, and vehicles to its citizens.
